To the family of Carl Karst: I wore Carl Karst's POW/MIA bracelet every single day throughout my junior high school years...It was the early '70's. I hoped and prayed that Carl's name would be called as the last of the POW's were released from captivity. I watched every minute of that event on TV. I only recently found the account of his last days through an internet search and that is how I found this site. I want you to know he was thought about by a young girl in Minnesota and he was never forgotten. I still have the bracelet with his name. The black lettering wore off several times and I would repaint it and cover it with clear nail polish so his name could be seen. My condolences to you. Thank God for men and women like Carl Karst who sacrifice everything for those of us at home. Cindy Sorensen
A beautiful tribute to your Father. I have his MIA/POW bracelet. I wore it for so many many years and will never forget his name. Today I found out he gave the greatest sacrifice to our Country ~ his life. I have a piece of history honoring a very brave warrior. If you would like me to send my bracelet to your family please contact me via email: rosemarynisi@gmail.com Blessings, Rosemary Nisi
I received my bracket with Lt. Col. Carl Karst in 1970 and wore it for a very long time years and years. My father and uncle served in the same war. I lost my mom in 1989 and my dad in 1996. I was so happy his remains came home. I prayerd everyday that he'd make it back to his family. Both my uncle and dad are buried in veterans cemetery as are so many Vietnam Vets.
I too am a cousin on my mothers side, and wore the Karst bracelet while in active and reserve naval duty until 1985? I think i returned it durning a Dietz, Deines, reunion? Ctt2/Rm1, Dale Nulik.
